Britain’s moment to get this right
AI could contribute £510 billion to the UK economy by 2035 and create more than 600,000 jobs in the next few years. In our NHS, cancer could be spotted earlier, new medicines discovered faster and treatments started more swiftly. In our schools, teachers can spend more time teaching and less time planning. Across our public services, AI can cut admin to save more than £12 billion.
But we are at a crossroads - and standing still has a cost.
The opportunity is real. But Britain risks being left behind while the rest of the world is racing ahead.
The US, Singapore, Japan and the EU have already put in place copyright rules that give businesses the confidence to invest and scale. The UK has yet to provide that clarity.

If we want the benefits of AI to be felt here, the UK needs a workable solution anchored around a Text and Data Mining exemption.
Britain has a choice.
Will we make the right one?
